First Song from John McLaughlin’s new album out for Free Download!

Two years after he released his John Coltrane tribute called To The One, guitar God John McLaughlin is all set to release the new album of his jazz fusion band John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension, titled Now Here This, on the 18th of this month. And as a run-up to the launch, one song from the album, Echoes From Then, has been made available for free download! All you need to do is visit this link and submit your email ID. And while you are at it you can also hear samples of the other seven songs in the same place.

For this album the 4th Dimension sees drummer Mark Mondesir replaced by Indian percussionist composer Ranjit Barot, and the rest of the band remains the same – Gary Husband on keyboard and Etienne Mbappe on bass. About Echoes From Then, the song is pure energy; it is simply amazing to see McLaughlin play guitar as awesomely as he used to during his Mahavishnu Orchestra days! And he is joined well by the other three with some mindblowing display of talent – those time signatures are just crazy! For people who love McLaughlin’s brand of jazz, this is an absolute must have. And from the sound of the samples, the whole album too. You can pre order the album too, in the same site. Go get it then.

Below is a studio-made video of the song.
