Amaal Mallik’s Soch Na Sake carries a very generic sound about it, the melody and arrangement are bound to remind you of multiple other Hindi songs from the past. It does however serve the purpose well, barring the minor blip that is Tulsi Kumar’s singing. To be fair it is one of her best renditions I have heard yet, but falls short all the same. It is the solo version sung by Arijit Singh alone that therefore works better. Another generic template follows in Mera Nachan Nu, this time of the Punjabi dance variety. Less effective than the first song, kept afloat only by the vocal efforts of Divya Kumar, Brijesh Shandilya and the composer himself. Amaal’s best offering is his final track, Tu Bhoola Jise. He gets the grand anthemic sound quite right here, topped with a smart incorporation of Vande Mataram and the ever-reliable KK on vocals. Guest composer Ankit Tiwari supplies the one last track of Airlift, the Arabic flavoured Dil Cheez Tujhe Dedi. Reasonably engaging track whose main problem is that its most interesting part, the titular hook, quite clearly borrows from Khaled’s famous song Didi. Good singing by Arijit Singh though.

Airlift. Average soundtrack from Amaal Mallik and Ankit Tiwari.
