Sathuranga Vettai – Music Review (Tamil Movie Soundtrack)

Nestled between two yesteryear Tamil monologues, Yemarum Janame is in stark contrast, a pulsating mix of guitars and techno elements. Composer Sean Roldan himself sings this one along with Pradeep Kumar. Kadhala Kadhala is another of the soundtrack’s picks, a lovely melody that Kalyani Nair owns with her rendition. Sean backs her up with an ambient setting highlighted by the guitars, vocal harmonies and tabla. Verichodi Ponathada carries a very familiar Sean Roldan sound about it, though once again the guitars make it an engaging track. The techno-kuthu Porape Nadape is short but effective, particularly so for the kuthu specialist Anthony Dasan’s vocals. On the arrangement front I quite liked the jugalbandhi mode between the synth and folk percussion. Munne Yen Munne sounds almost out of the Cuckoo soundtrack, the Raja-esque feel, the haunting, magical arrangement rich in strings and flute. Then there is Sathya Prakash doing a fab job of the vocals, making this a total winner.

Sathuranga Vettai. Sean Roldan continues confidently along that promising film composing journey he embarked on with Vaayai Moodi Pesavum/Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram.
