Tagore’s Mor Bhabonare gets a beautiful makeover at the hands of Indradip Dasgupta; the composer bringing together guitars and sarod and mridangam(or something very similar) in a captivating fashion! The choice of vocalists is equally spot on – Saptarshi Mukherjee and Sahana Bajpaie both sound fabulous; both in the duet version and their own respective male and female versions. Din Khon Mapa Ache sees a buoyant Caribbean base supporting Arijit Singh’s matchingly spirited rendition. In the second mukhda the arrangement almost seamlessly shifts from calypso to Bengali folk and back. Arijit Singh aces the rendition part of Mone Porle as well – another beauty from the composer that neatly incorporates the retro jazz flavor. Bhoy Dekhas Na Please is another song that comes in three forms; each differentiated from the other, despite the common base tune, by some nice touches in the arrangement. While the female version rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan features some nice sax, Arijit Singh’s male version is an unplugged piece set on multiple layers of guitar. And there is the Agnee version which has the band giving a piano+guitar arrangement to Indradip’s composition. Nicely done, except that Mohan’s singing at times evokes memories of Agnee’s own Aahatein (Splitsvilla). By the soundtrack’s standards, Ghore Pherar Gaan is the relatively ordinary song with a pretty standard pop-based template. If there is something that makes it work despite that, it is Vishal Dadlani’s energy.
