A R Rahman composes for 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony

After two successful musical partnerships between them in 127 Hours and Slumdog Millionaire, Danny Boyle and A R Rahman join hands again, albeit for a single song this time. Boyle’s Tempest+Frankenstein-inspired Opening Ceremony extravaganza Isles of Wonder for the 2012 London Olympics, the design of which was unveiled a couple of weeks back, will feature a song from the ace composer. The event will reportedly also feature music by Paul McCartney, and the electronica band Underworld who have earlier collaborated with the director for his 2006 movie Sunshine and also in 2011 for Boyle’s stage version of Frankenstein.

The last time ARR created an anthem for a sporting event the product wasn’t exactly memorable, but given the track record of the ARR-Boyle team, I shall have my hopes high!

(Thanks to @narvind0110 for the tip-off regarding this!)
