Bol Bachchan – Music Review

You can listen to the soundtrack here.

Nach Le might have its Latin feel in orchestration and all that, but moment the percussion kicks in one would be in no doubt that this is an Ajay Atul product, it is so their signature. The way they alternate between the soft guitar-led portions and the percussion-dominated portions makes it a very engaging fair, helped on its way by Sukhwinder Singh and Shreya Ghoshal (Turns out this song is a reproduction of their Marathi song Baygo Baygo. Thanks Avinash for the info). The remix is also quite decently done, without diluting the percussion elements that lend energy to the song. After that guest composition the soundtrack is Himesh Reshammiya’s show. The title song is fun, primarily for the sprightly rendition by Amitabh Bachchan, and he is assisted by Abhishek Bachchan, Mamta Sharma, Ajay Devgn, Himesh and Vineet Singh. But the mindless lyrics are seriously getting on my nerves, what with the song’s overdose on music channels. Ya there is a nod to Anthony Gonzalves and all that, but words there were far more fun. The fast forwarded remix is devoid of any imagination.

Chalao Na Nainon Se is largely insipid with a thoroughly dated and uninspiring arrangement, and the singing by the composer and Shreya Ghoshal is not good enough to mitigate the ennui. The remix is as good as the original. Mohit Chauhan’s Jab Se Dekhi Hai is a better listen, and despite the beat template should induce some listens for the soulfulness. The remix is a decent attempt too, the lounge feel going quite well with the tune.

Guest composition by Ajay Atul works better than the three from Himesh in Bol Bachchan. The title song will stay for some time though.

I am disappointed by Nach le Track of Ajay-Atul. Because this song is just a rip-off of their previous marathi song बायगो बायगो (Baaygo Baaygo) from marathi film Ringa Ringa. In agneepath also they used Kombadi palali as Chikne chameli. I think they wasting opportunities to prove their metal in Hindi film industry. They should churn out new tracks and they have that capability.
