Manjhi the Mountain Man – Music Review (Bollywood Soundtrack)

That Manjhi the Mountain Man would have folk-based songs was fairly clear from the trailer. And themanjhi the mountain man poster mild electronic twang in the vocals aside, Sandesh Shandilya delivers just that in the pleasant and likeable Gehlore Ki Goriya, sung by Bhavin Shastri and Pawani Pandey. The Jai Jai Shiv Shankar-esque percussion forms the backbone of the arrangement that features some other nice touches like the flute refrain. The inspirational O Rahi also has Bhavin Shastri on vocals. Here Sandesh takes an Indian Ocean-ish route, interspersing the dominant folk sound with mild rock flavours, and pulls it off quite well. Third song Dum Kham is composed by Hitesh Sonik, one that carries a mild heard-before feel about it but is more than mitigated by the composer with his heavy arrangement, and by Divya Kumar with his powerful singing.

Manjhi the Mountain Man. Engaging, folk-rooted soundtrack from Sandesh Shandilya and Hitesh Sonik.
