Gabbar is Back – Music Review (Bollywood Soundtrack)

Gabbar is back poster

You can listen to the songs at the end of the review.

Manj Musik’s Warna Gabbar Aa Jaayega starts off promisingly with that taiko drum-esque percussion but quickly degenerates into standard remix material interspersed with takes on some of Gabbar Singh’s famous dialogues, and rendered by the composer and Raftaar. Of Chirantan Bhatt’s two songs, Teri Meri Kahaani is boringly familiar – as if Bhatts weren’t already spamming us enough with this kind of stuff! Even the singers only manage to add to the familiarity – Arijit Singh and Palak Muchhal. Chirantan makes amends in the other song though, the pleasant and sing-alongish Coffee Peetey Peetey. The jaunty tune gets an indie-like treatment from the composer, and is nicely sung by Dev Negi and Paroma Das Gupta. Yo Yo Honey Singh’s song Aao Raja isn’t a great song on its own, but given the general state of the soundtrack it ends up on the better side. The tune and the rendition (Neha Kakkar and Yo Yo Honey Singh) follows a tried-and-tested route, but the arrangement has a trippy quality to it, owing to the percussion perhaps.

Gabbar is Back with a middling soundtrack.

Music Aloud Rating: 5.5/10
