Entertainment – Music Review (Bollywood Soundtrack)

Tera Naam Doon starts on a very promising note, after all it is hard not to sit up and notice when you hear Celtic flavored tune playing on a tin whistle. But the arrangement that accompanies it later on (that percussion in particular) doesn’t live up to that promise. The tune and singing by Shalmali Kholgade and Atif Aslam (did I sense some processing in his voice?) make it a pleasant listen nevertheless. The short reprise of the same sung by Atif alone, Nahi Woh Saamne, works even less than the original. Teri Mahima has Udit Narayan and Anushka Manchanda on vocals; Anushka sounds in her elements, Udit a little labored. Dance track that gets tiresome after a couple of listens. Veerey Di Wedding works relatively better despite the overwhelming familiarity because the arrangement is better here. And there is Mika’s energy of course. Even the remix is surprisingly decent. It is in Johnny Johnny that composers Sachin Jigar really score a winner though, picking up from where they left off in Go Goa Gone with a wacky and thoroughly entertaining dance track. Mayur Puri’s lines build brilliantly on the nursery rhyme, and Priya Panchal absolutely nails the singing.

Johnny Johnny aside, Sachin Jigar’s first full soundtrack this year, Entertainment is only marginally entertaining.
