..And we turn three!

So another year passes by in the life of Music Aloud, the third one to be precise. Year no. 3 saw us take a short step towards a non-musical foray, adding Movie Reviews to our portfolio, where our reviewers provided fairly regular updates on this year’s releases in Bollywood and Hollywood. But that apart, our main focus has remained and shall continue to be music. While no new categories were added there, we were quite active on the existing ones. We added quite a few more awesomely talented musicians to our interviewee list – Ranjit Barot, Pete Lockett, Krsna, Sachin-Jigar, Aditi Singh Sharma to name some. We tried to get more active off the site as well, on the twitter space in particular, where we had been dormant for close to two years. The move paid off big time, raising our follow count fourfold, in the process presentng us a lot of proud fanboi moments. 🙂

Anyways enough about last year. This year we have a fair bit of plans – some on the site, some off it. A refurbishment work of the site, about which we have been getting feedback from readers off and on, is first on the list. Others we are not in a state to comment on right now, so all we would say is keep watching this space. And twitter! Already a couple of initiatives have kicked off there – the prominent one being #musichat – a joint venture, so to say, from a bunch of musically inclined tweeple in which we choose a genre/topic every week and discuss and share music in that. The hashtag was kicked off last Saturday and was trending at no. 2 in India at one point! And the second one is again a weekly thing (at least as of now), a hashtag called #raagtag intended at introducing people to popular music in a particular raag. We have also started off a youtube account where we shall start getting more active during the course of the year.

So that is about it. Thanks for all the love shown to this site, please continue doing so. 🙂 And yes, if there is anything you would like us to know, like featuring a band or good music that deserves to be heard, ping us on twitter, facebook or write to us on response [at] musicaloud [dot] com
