A R Rahman receives Golden Globe Nomination for 127 Hours

Not very long ago A R Rahman became the first Indian to win a Golden Globe when he was presented the award for Best Original Score – Motion Picture, 2008 for his soundtrack of Danny Boyle‘s Slumdog Millionaire. In 2010 his tryst with the Golden Globe continues as his score for 127 Hours, once again for Boyle, has been nominated for this year’s Golden Globes in the same category. And this time too he will fight it out with two of the bigshots he had then defeated, Hans Zimmer (Inception) and Alexandre Desplat (King’s Speech), apart from Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network) and Danny Elfman (Alice In Wonderland). And this time the competition from Zimmer is going to be tougher, Inception has one hell of a soundtrack! Nevertheless, to me, like I had said in 127 hours’ review, this soundtrack rates above Slumdog and hence is more deserving of the Golden Globe. So here is hoping that ARR brings yet another Golden Globe to India on 16th January 2011! The nominations for the other musical category, Best Original Song – Motion Picture, are as below:
