Miley Cyrus Can’t Be Tamed!

The Hannah Montana girl Miley Cyrus‘ much (over)hyped album Can’t Be Tamed is scheduled for release on June 22, but its title single was premiered on MySpace on April 30. The song has been described as “a self-empowering song in which Miley asserts that she has to stay true to herself in relationships”. The song has been written by Miley, Antonina Armato and Tim James and produced by Armato and James. The video has been directed by Robert Hales of Gnarls Barkley‘s Crazy.

For a song touted as the “next step of evolution of Miley Cyrus”, I found the techno-heavy Can’t Be Tamed to be pretty ordinary. The title hook sort of reminded me of the title refrain of Black Eyed Peas‘ Boom Pow. It is definitely different from what Miley used to sing during her Disney days, but is far from anything that would have her hounded by music producers. As for the video, it merely seems to be an effort to show that Miley has “grown up”. The only thing I found good about the whole single was Miley’s vocal quality. Amazing voice, great singing. Hope the rest of the album contains something that would utilize her voice in a better manner. Of course if she plans to take up acting as a full time profession it doesn’t really matter!
